Nobel Peace Prize: nomination and decision

Being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize does not mean winning. A nomination starts the review process.

Submissions close January thirty-first. Nominations are checked for validity before reaching the Committee.

The Committee creates a shortlist. Independent experts assess candidates, while repeated discussions narrow the field.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee decides the award. The winner is announced in October; the ceremony follows in December.
